2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4 – Charged Charm

The 2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4 marks a significant step for the brand as it embraces electrification without losing its signature charm. As the first fully electric version of MINI’s largest model, it pairs a more spacious and rugged design with an advanced electric powertrain. While it no longer fits the “MINI” name in size, it retains the character that sets the brand apart—fun driving dynamics, a distinctive design language, and the quirky personality that has long made MINI stand out from the competition.

The MINI Countryman SE ALL4 introduces a bolder and more modern take on MINI’s traditional design language while retaining its charm. The front fascia is more upright and squared off than before, giving it a more rugged presence compared to its predecessor. The traditional oval headlights have evolved into a sharper, more angular shape with customizable LED signatures, adding a high-tech flair.

From the side, the new Countryman SE ALL4 appears noticeably larger, with a taller and more upright silhouette compared to the previous generation. The roofline remains relatively flat, improving headroom while still maintaining MINI’s signature floating roof effect. One of the standout design elements is MINI’s two-tone paint scheme, with a contrasting roof.

The rear of the Countryman SE follows the modernized, yet familiar design philosophy seen up front. The taillights now feature a sleek, vertical orientation with intricate LED patterns that can be customized to display different lighting signatures. The rear bumper has been redesigned with a cleaner, and more aerodynamic shape with no exhaust cutouts. The tailgate is slightly wider, making cargo access more practical.

The 2025 MINI Countryman takes a bold step forward in interior design, blending retro charm with the latest technology. The dashboard is dominated by the circular OLED touchscreen, a nod to MINI’s iconic center-mounted speedometer, but now fully digital and highly customizable. The physical buttons have been minimized, replaced by a sleek row of toggle switches below the display. Materials have been significantly upgraded with more soft-touch surfaces, textured fabric accents, and sustainable materials throughout the cabin. The front seats offer the right amount of side support

The Countryman SE comes with MINI’s latest infotainment system that features an intuitive interface with voice controls, playful animations, and digital features like navigation and smartphone integration. The new MINI experience modes allow drivers to change the interior ambiance with different lighting and screen graphics, adding a fun and personalized touch. The gear selector is now a small toggle on the dashboard, freeing up tons of space in the center console for additional storage and cupholders. Despite the focus on digitalization, MINI retains its quirky charm with playful graphics, which sets it apart from its BMW siblings.

Thanks to its longer wheelbase and taller roofline, the new Countryman is significantly roomier than before. Rear seat occupants benefit from improved legroom and headroom, making it a much more practical choice for families—the rear seats recline and slide for added flexibility. Cargo capacity has also improved, offering around 460 litres with the rear seats up, and expanding to over 1450 litres when they are folded. It technically makes the Countryman SE more spacious than its corporate cousin, the BMW X2.

The 2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4 embraces electrification with a powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, making it the most capable Countryman yet. Producing 313 horsepower and 364 lb-ft of torque, two electric motors work seamlessly to provide instant acceleration and confident traction. Unlike traditional mechanical AWD setups, the system dynamically adjusts power distribution between the front and rear motors, optimizing grip and efficiency in real time. This setup ensures the Countryman maintains its fun handling character while offering a smooth and refined ride quality.

At the heart of the Countryman SE ALL4 is a 64.7 kWh battery pack, offering an estimated 260-270 miles of range. The battery pack is placed under the floor for optimal center of gravity and more interior space. This setup enhances driving dynamics and ensures optimal weight distribution for a more balanced chassis. The accelerator pedal is quite smooth, the instant torque from the electric motors makes urban driving effortless, while highway cruising remains composed and comfortable.

Even though the battery pack isn’t big, charging the Countryman SE ALL4 is both convenient and relatively quick. With 11kW AC charging, a full charge on a home or public level 2 charger takes around 6.5 hours, making overnight charging an easy option. For those in need of a rapid top-up, it supports DC fast charging up to 130 kW, allowing it to go from 19% to 80% in less than 30 minutes. MINI has also included battery preconditioning to optimize charging speeds in colder climates, ensuring more consistent performance year-round.

To enhance driving convenience, the Countryman SE ALL4 offers adjustable regenerative braking, enabling one-pedal driving in urban settings. Choosing different drive modes allows drivers to tailor the car’s behavior, adjusting throttle modes, steering feel, power distribution, and accelerator pedal responsiveness to suit different conditions. The electric AWD system ensures stability on all surfaces, making it a versatile companion for all-weather driving.

While it shares its platform with other small BMW SUVs, the MINI differentiates itself with a more playful character, and a design that stays true to the brand’s quirky personality. It is a step forward for the brand, embracing electrification while maintaining its unique charm and driving dynamics. With larger dimensions and a more rugged design, it is more appealing to a wider range of audience. For those seeking an electric SUV that blends everyday usability with MINI’s distinctive character, the Countryman SE ALL4 makes a strong case as a fun, stylish and practical EV.
